Thoughts on religious change

After I read chapter ten, I learned about religious revivals which was during the second great awakening . One of the biggest revivals happened in Cane Ridge, Kentucky. "The Cane Ridge Revival drew thousands of people, and possibly as many as one of every ten residents of Kentucky." The missionaries would ride on horseback to many cities and towns spreading their religion. Events like Cane Bridge sparked significant changes in religion. Out of all the religions in this revival, the Methodist, Baptist, and Presbyterians, the Methodist had the most significant increase and was the most popular denomination by the 1850's. The Methodist broke away from the Church of England in 1784. "Methodists used itinerant preachers, known as circuit riders." These riders would spread the Methodist beliefs and try to add people to their church. "They preached from inside buildings, evangelized outdoors under the open sky, and even used tree stumps as makeshift pulpits." In that quote you can tell that the Protestants did everything they could to reach out and teach people.another thing change during the second great awakening.  This was the way people worshipped, instead of the formal way of worship many would spontaneously jump,shout, and gesture. One reason this might have change is because people wanted to get the point across whether it was loud or not. The second great awakening changed the way many people lived and changed many people's beliefs. This was good because it brought the American people closer and in a way makes the country more stable.
