Religious Revival

 After reading chapter 10 my view on religion in America changed. I didn't realize how big the Second Great Awakening was for the religion revival. Many denominations saw an increase of people in their religion. More specifically, the Methodists, the Baptists, and the Presbyterians saw a significant increase in their respective churches. The Methodists saw the most significant increase. The sermons coming from the churches changed as well. In Cane Ridge, Kentucky a religious revival took place in which many of the denominations became one, for a week.  This created a wave of people moving towards religion. The preachers preached that all people were equal in the eyes of God and if you give your life to him you will receive salvation. By the end of the eighteenth century nearly one third of all church membership belonged to the Methodists. The Second Great Awakening was a religious revival molded like a democracy. The people were able to have what they wanted. Many believed that God was speaking to them and telling them to create new churches, and that's why we have many different denominations in religion today. Many of the churches somewhat contradicted one another but the people remain happy because they are getting what they want. So, all together, the Second Great Awakening helped form many new denominations which allowed the people to pick one which fits their lifestyle and beliefs.
