Slavery

In every history course I have ever taken slavery has been talked about. Slaves are treated like property and not like humans. From the passage over to the plantations they work on. The passage over is a horrifying experience that slaves must go through. They are chained up so close together their is no extra room. They are left to use the bathroom where they sit and sleep. This cause sickness throughout  the slaves. They are starved causing 25% of the slaves to die on the way to America. They are left under there for weeks with no exposure to fresh air until the end when they are brought up to define their muscles and get ready to sell. This week I learned that in order to maximize the amount that survive the voyage over the sailer did one of two things. They either over packed the ship by 25% or left 25% more room. This showed that we not only treated the slaves so horrible we also strived to find more efficient ways to do it. When the slaves arrived they were occasioned off. They covered them with oil to define the muscles because the stronger they are the more they sell for. Strong young men and women were bought first for the best working and reproduction possibilities. I learned this week that the most they pay for slaves is $1,000 which is $250,000 today. Once the slaves are at the plantation they are put to work. They work all day in all conditions and get punished greatly for disobeying. They are wiped and beaten on a daily basis
