A PC white kids opinions on slavery.

Slavery was so horrible, words do not exist which can singly describe its amazing negativity. This is how I was taught growing up and going through school and that hasn't changed. My mom has worked in a variety of museums related to the antebellum period. She is a public historian. What astounds me the most about slavery is how people still, to this day, try to re imagine it as a positive or at least neutral organization. They would walk into the Sam Davis Home and ask about how nice the slaves were treated blissfully unaware (or knowingly self deluded) that they weren't treated at all.  We know that slaves were only kept well enough to work or sell. We know any care given to them was as tools and not humans. We know they were objects in the eyes of tyrannical yokels. People still glorify the past to frightening degrees.
As I said before, slavery is indescribably bad. One can describe aspects of the whole and how evil it was without getting close to touching the true nature of the whole. Young teen slave girls were kept around to breed other slaves until they couldn't anymore. Pregnant mothers would be in the fields up to and immediately after childbirth where the infants would be carried with them. The infants would work as soon as they could hold a shovel. Scientists, those who are supposed to be the least opinionated, analytical thinkers, came up with ways to put down black people through pseudoscience. Slavery affected everything to such an extent that the south is still reeling from the loss of them. It's truly sickening.
