Articles and the Constitution

The Articles of Confederation was created in order to form a system of government and law to the United States of America. It had good intentions, but John Dickinson,  the man who wrote the Articles of Confederation, over compensated. He and those who influenced the Articles of Confederation did not want a strong government, but they made the government too weak. Although, it was a very noble and idealistic approach to creating a nation, and many people admire this belief. The states held all of the power and nearly none of the power was held by the nation. The main three powers they did have were pretty much useless. For example, they had the power to start wars, but they did not have the power to raise armies. The Constitution was created so the nation’s government would have more power, or rather, any power at all. After all, it was supposed to be the United States, not the divided states. The Constitution enacted a system in which there would be branches of government, called checks and balances. This was done in order to give the government plenty of power without a chance of the government abusing it. This was needed for us to do anything as a united nation. We most likely would not have been able to fight any wars without the writing and instating of the Constitution. We, as a nation, would not have been able to raise an army. This is why the United States of America needed the Constitution.

Articles vs. Constitution

The articles were agreed on by the Continental Congress on November 15,1777. This was before anyone was elected president, nor was there a way the make laws. This meant that the states had to make their own decisions that affected only themselves. The article helped the states grow by allowing them more say in what happens in their territory. By having this, it allowed them to micromanage themselves. If the federal government had more say in what goes on, then the states wouldn't grow or get as much done. This meant that the states would try and not change from the articles of confederation as it would hurt them more than it would help them. This was the main reason that the states didn't want to change from the articles.

The constitution in the long run was better for the United States than the articles of confederation. The constitution united the states together. It gave the entire nation rules to follow even the states. It also gave us liberties and freedoms, such as the right to land, speech, and to bear arms(weapons). These freedoms couldn't be taken away by anyone, not even the government. It also gave us a congress to create laws and a way to elect the president to command the military. It gave us a branch of government to determine if people should be punished for their crimes. These were the main reasons the United States needed to change from the articles of confederation to the constitution.

Article of confederation v constitution

The articles of confederation was ratified because the congress felt we needed a strong government to defeat Great Britain. It was the first written constitution of the United States. Under this article all thirteen states stayed independent, but gave congress the authority to make treaties and alliances. This article was the first set of rules for the United States. These rules stated that the states have all the power and everything was voted by the state. It also stated that their was no chief executive and no judiciary only a congress. This article gave the freedom America wanted with allowing us to make trades, sign treaties, interact with other countries, and some other foreign affairs.

The constitution gave more power to the government. It set up three branches, executive, judicial, and legislative, but all have equal power.some of the states thought this would give to much control to the government. These people where called the anti federalist. So in order for some of the states to sign they had to promise to come up with basic citizen rights like freedom of speech, press, and religion. We needed the constitution because the article of confederation had weaknesses. The article created a unicameral legislature which
Means no separation in powers. The articles gave no power to the central government. They had no authority to raise money, tax,or regulate interstate trade. The constitution created a central government that had limited power and basic right for citizens.

The Articles vs The Constitution

The Articles of Confederation was the first government established after we received our freedom from Great Britain. The Articles were great in that they outlined what we needed in America. The States agreed that there was no need in a new form of government because that would lead to a stronger central government. With a stronger central government we wouldn't have as much power. The Articles of Confederation is also great in that it separated land in the northwest. Land was divide into small squares. These squares divided the states land evenly. Within each 16th square there was a school which made it a lot easier for people to get a public education.

We NEED a new Constitution. The states have so much power in the Articles of Confederation it  calls for a weak central government.  This resulted in the government a tough time trying to make laws, raise taxes, create an army,  etc. Without all this the states were basically separate counties and the newly founded country was sure to fall. If the central government cannot place taxes then there is no way they can raise money for anything including an army. This is why the founding father changed our government and made three branches the Judicial, Legislative, and Executive. Along with these three branches, a checks and balance system was out into place. This ensured that no branch would become too powerful. We had finally found a Constitution that would be beneficial to all.

Articles of Confederation and The Constitution

The Articles of Confederation wasn't a complete bust. Yes it had many weaknesses like a weak central government and a lack of income such as taxes from the states, but the Articles of Confederation also had some good aspects. It created some good plans such as the Ordinance of 1785, which set up a plan to survey wester land. This was a brilliant plan to slit up the land evenly and sell it to the citizens. This plan put aside a portion of the land for schooling in each of the different districts. This allowed any kid who wasn't needed for farming to have an opportunity to go to school. This plan allowed everyone who came to America the opportunity to have their own land to begin a new life. The problem is all the bad out weighed the good of The Articles of Confederation which is what brought about the Constitution which has many good aspects. The Constitution declares that the government has two house, one based of population ( The House of Representatives ) and one equal for all states (The Senate ). This pleased both small and large states and became know as the Great Compromise. The government used the two houses as a system called checks and balances to make sure the president nor either one of the house could become to powerful. The Separation of Powers divided the powers between the President, Senate, and House of Representatives so all decisions had to go through all branches of the government to become final.

the continental congress adopted the first constitution known as the articles of confederation on November, 15 1777. although ratifications of the article by the 13 states did not occur until March, 1 1781. instead of the articles giving all the power to the federal government the articles created a loose constitution leaving a lot of the power to the state governments. This gave the states more say in their own rules rather than giving a select set of rules for all the states to follow. It also gave tension between the south and the north due to their separate views on the rules of the states and federal government. even though The articles of confederation was the first constitution and had a huge impact on society. every thing has to have a better version of its self.

During the years following the creation of the articles of confederation the US was beginning to notice their strong need for a stronger central government. their were many reasons that the articles needed to be replaced. one being that under the articles there was no separation of powers causing a weak all around government. another being the central government was extremely weak due to the resting of powers with in the states. as well as congress did not have the power to tax under the articles making it impossible to get their finances in order. all in all the articles of confederation needed to be replaced and were by The Constitution and was in 1789.

Articles V. Constitution

(Old Alabama flag waving redneck in his porch tone) I am not for this new constitution. I enjoy my freedom of no-one really knowing what's going on. The new constitution would give all the power to the government and I don't trust the system. That's what England did. One big ole government to screw with my life! This is America and I want my freedom not somebody in some committee deciding what's best for me. I like the freedom I am bestowed with by living in this great country and it should stay great the way it is. If the central government has all the power my states won't have any and it will be a oligarchy rather than England's monarchy. It will be complete chaos to all those who believe in me.

(Bratty white girl tone) I am all for the new constitution. This whole system has central government power. That raises all the questions like: how will we make money, how will we raise an army, how will be Americans if there is basically no America. The central government needs to be restructured where they can have some control over what's going on. If not that all the states will basically rule themselves. We needs rights written down. Rights that everyone has not just wealthy white men. This is better for the country in the long run especially. The more powerful central government the powerful of a nation you will become that's just simple logic. I mean I have all the faith in the continental congress (the free masons) to have our thoughts in mind and make the right decision over country and its policies.

Articles and Constitution

The Articles of Confederation played a big role in laying the foundation for America. It was the first written constitution of the United States. These articles helped the states remain independent. The United States still had congress which they used as a last resort for settling disputes among the states. The articles were agreed on by the Continental Congress on November 15,1777. At this point there were only 13 states. There was also no president, House of Representatives, or Senate. There was no judicial executive branch of government. The states made decisions on their own unless further problems occurred. Many were for a new constitution as the Articles of Confederation had its flaws. One group, the Anti-Fedaralists, were against changing the Articles.

After the Articles of Confederation came the Constitution. The Constitution gave the majority of the power to the central government. Along with the shifting of power, the Executive and Judicial branches of government were introduced. The constitution gave the central government the ability to create laws and tax the people. But, with the constitution a sense of order was created. The people now had rules and laws they had to follow. Also, someone would now be the main leader for America, the president. After the central government gained the majority of the power, they now had the ability to build an army. The constitution was exactly what the United States needed to create order and equal separation of power with checks and balance.

The Articles and Constitution

The Articles of Confederation made the United States of America. This is what made us have a country to live in and call home. The Constitutional Congress was the group that adopted the Articles of Confederation, which was the original Constitution. The Articles of Confederation was created because the United States needed a functional national government after becoming independent from Great Britain. The Articles of Confederation were the first official set of rules for the United States. This set of rules said that power rests with the states, everything was voted as a state, there was no chief executive, and there was no judiciary only a Congress. The Anti-Federalists were the group of men that were against the new Constitution and did not want anything to replace the Articles of Confederation. This led to an argument bust soon the Constitution was made.

There were many needs for a Constitution. There needed to be a strong central government to make and enforce laws. There needed to be someone in charge of the country and control what was happening. The Constitution is what the United States is set up around. Without the Constitution, there would not be any rules for people to follow. This would help the people feel more safe and in order living in the United States. The Constitution was one of the main documents needed for the United States because it stated everything about the United States in it and all the rules and rights each citizen has to follow. Overall, the Constitution was the smartest way to go with helping the United States become a better place even though the Anti-Federalists were against it at the beginning. Everything worked out in the end.

Articles and Constitution

The Articles of Confederation were the first documents in the United States that laid down laws and rules of government.  In other words it was the first Constitution of the United States. The Articles of Confederation was agreed on by the Continental Congress on November 15, 1777. The Articles of Confederation gave little power to the central government and gave the states most of the power. The central government was not able to tax or enforce laws. The Articles also only had a Legislative branch and not a Judicial or Executive. That means that there was no President of the United States or a Senate and House of Representatives. Due to the several flaws the Articles of Confederation had the colonists decided that it needed to be replaced.

The Constitution is the legal document that replaced the Articles of Confederation. The Constitution was created on September 17, 1787 and the majority of it was written by James Maddison. The Constitution was almost the exact opposite of the Articles of Confederation. It gave power to the central government and introduced the Judicial and Executive branch to the government. Therefore we had a Senate, House of Representative, and President. It Aalto made a court system which was not included in the Articles of Confederation. It also made it to where that the President was elected  by electoral colleges. The Constitution mad it to where we have the power to tax people as well. Another power the Constitution had was the power to raise an army.
The Articles of Confederation is the very first thing government wise we had after fighting Great Britain. It was  good considering it was our first and it worked just fine. Nothing needed to change with it a stronger state government means that the states and central government all have equal power. This balances everything out so that no one has to much power. One thing the Articles of Confederation is the separated land in the northwest. These squares contained smaller and smaller squares which they sell. Every square had a school on it which made it a lot easier for people to get a public education. Another reason that the states need power is due to the fact that it is much easier to hear what the people want.

When that states had more power in the Articles of Confederation it left for a weak central government. This government a tough time trying to make laws, raise taxes, create an army, and etc. Without all this the states were basically separate counties and the newly founded country was sure to fall. If the central government cannot place taxes then there is no way they can raise money for anything including an army. This is why the founding father changed our government and made three branches the Judicial, Legislative, and Executive. With these three branches created a checks and balance system where no on had to much power. It also made the central government stronger to where they could tax, create laws, and support and army.

The Articles of Confederation and the Constitution

Today I’m am going to talk about how I would defend the articles of confederation (Anti-Federalists party). I am also going to defend the constitution (Federalist party). First off though I am all for the federalist party in the fact that I believe that we all have equal freedom and that define all the rights we should have is not right. I say this in the fact that it restricts us from what we can and cannot do. For instance, let’s say the constitution says we can own land, vote, and drive. What about our other rights? So, what was put down is that whatever rights and rules that are not in the constitution; Those laws will be left up to the state’s legislature. Now to defend the articles of confederation. They set a standard for being the big ruler of the law of the land. It’s the big dog so to say. It also could hold the country together and it helped get through the revolutionary war which ended with the treaty of Paris to help us find this country. The articles also played a part in slavery by playing the first part in the long pathway to ending it in the us for once and for all. They were also good because they were kind of the test government in which we could look off and make a new one that is better. We could see all of it’s flaws and correct them.

The Articles of Confederation Government

Part 1:

Defending the Articles of Confederation is tricky, but doable. There were only a few things that the Articles did right, but they did them very well. First of all, they were able to give more power to the states. By giving more power to the states, there was more diversity in the laws that were made and it kept the central government from being too powerful. The people at the time were just coming from a country where the head of the central government had abused his power to get what they wanted, and they didn't want that to happen again. Thus they gave more power to the states. This made sense at the time and was a common theme throughout the entire document. The other thing that the Articles of Confederation government did was separate land in the Northwest Territory. The government split the new land into large squares that could contain smaller squares, and smaller squares inside them. They were able to sell these "sections" for a good price, and in a good way. The government was also incredibly ahead of its time and set aside a part of each section for education. This was all way ahead of its time, and the system was so good and ingenious that parts of it are sometimes still used today in certain areas.

Part 2:

Showing what the Articles of Confederation did wrong is much easier than showing what it did right. By giving states more rights, the central government became weak and unable to do anything. It was unable to raise taxes, raise an army, and do several other basic things that it needed to do, and as a result, it slowly became more and more useless over time. The Articles of Confederation only had a single Congress, with no checks and balances, thus leaving the government more open to corruption and abuse of power. By not having specific branches of government that would limit each other and keep each other in check, the government became weaker and more opinionated to the majority.

Articles and Constitution

Part 1:

When you hear about the Articles of Confederation, you only hear about the negative parts, but there are positive parts as well. The articles allowed us to become our own free country after winning the Revolution. America started the Revolution for freedom from Great Britain, so it was important for the articles to give some freedom to the people. It unified trade and currency. It allowed the government to declare war and make peace, to coin and borrow money, to interact with foreign countries and sign treaties, and the ability to operate post offices. These are positive things that the Articles of Confederation could do. The negatives always overpower the positives, so it seems like there were no good things about the articles, but there were positive strengths that the Articles possessed.

Part 2:

The Articles of Confederation was a weak government with little power. The Constitution gave more power to the government. It balanced this power with the checks and balances system that divides power between three branches of government. With this system, no branch becomes too powerful. To guarantee accurate representation of the people, the Constitutional Convention settled on a bicameral legislature containing the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Constitution's amendments improve our government even more. The amendments give more rights to the people. The Constitution also established a national court system, and empowered Congress to impose taxes to make it easier for the national government to take care of the country's needs. While the Constitution serves as a great foundation for our country it still has its weaknesses, but it will always be better than the Articles of Confederation

.

The Articles of Confederation v.s. The Constitution

The Articles of Confederation  is what this country started out with. The United States does not need a new constitution. The Articles of Confederation works just fine. Taxes are the reason we went to war against Britain and now they want to bring them back. A lot of men died fighting for independence. So they think it is a good idea to throw away everything those men died for. We do not need a strong central government that has total power. That is what Britain had, and that is one thing we hated about British rule. The states need the most power because they are closer to the people and can hear the problems and questions proposed by the people. It will also spread the power out and not let one person or group have total power.

The Constitution is what the United States needs. The central government has to have some more power in order to keep the country together. The Articles of Confederation gives most of the power to the states, which does not allow the central government to do anything. The central government can not regulate commerce, call up an army, and many other important matters. Another important thing that will be a part of the Constitution is taxes. The taxes are required for the country to grow and prosper. The taxes will go to building schools and buildings for the people of the United States. In order for this country to sustain itself, the central government needs more power. The Constitution will balance the power though. The central government will be given the power it needs to maintain the proper running of the country. The states will be given the power it needs to meet the needs and requests of its people. The Constitution will
make the country stronger and able to sustain itself for many years.

Article of confederation vs. the constitution

Articles of confederation
The articles of confederation had many pros and advantages for when the U.S. became a independent country. The articles of confederation served as an agreement among the states and was the first constitution of the United States. It gave congress the authority to deal with international affairs and brought about congressional departments. The articles of confederation also bonded the states more closely together and strengthened their friendships. The articles, even though there was an agreement between the states, allowed the states to remain sovereign, movement to other states was not restricted and neither was trading. This was beneficial because the people are to be considered free citizens with privileges like any other citizen of the state.

The constitution
The constitution provided a strong, prosperous nation at the same time as allowing for representation of diverse interest as well as innovation as well as innovation at state level. The constitution also gave the people basic human rights with the bill of rights which protected the citizen's civil liberties. It provided the separation of powers and checks and balances which didn't allow any branch of government to become crazy with power. Each branch of government had equal power. It is adaptable to social change through the process of amendment and the practice of judicial review. The constitution is also being used still today because of how well it was made. It keeps the government in balance, give basic rights to the people, and is a strong basis for the country

Articles vs. Constitution

Articles of Confederation
Keeping the older ideals that the United States formed is the best for the country. Battle after battle was fought in order to receive independence from Great Britain, to separate from it and form a better, free nation. Power should and can ONLY reside in the states, not the United States government. After winning the revolutionary war, the United States was finally able to create a weaker government than Britain, which avoided tyranny, and it gave all citizens peace, liberty, and freedom.
The Articles of Confederation are perfect for our dream of a country. The states are unified and connected, but they should not all be one with each other. The states are independent, but bonded together to form the United States of America. We are strong together; being rid of the Articles of Confederation would only make us weaker.

The Constitution
The United States Constitution is not meant to derive the United States’ citizens of their own freedom, in fact it is completely the opposite. By tearing down the Articles of Confederation and replacing them with the United States Constitution, the rights of American citizens can be protected, not thrown away.
The United States Constitution will undoubtedly be a great successor to the Articles of Confederation. The United States will take shape as a unified nation, that lives, breathes, and acts all together as one. The nation will be much more organized in all categories, such as foreign policy. Decisions will be made by the whole nation. There will be no more disagreement, and every state will be on the same page with no tension tearing them apart.

The Articles of Constitution and the Confederation. Oh wait.

After going through the revolution to separate themselves with England, the last thing America wanted was a tyrannical system of government. By giving the central government very little power with which to abuse, in theory, no one would have to live under a cruel ruler, but rather live under the more localized states who in theory are run by the people even more so than the nation. The Articles of Confederation did many things that would be essentially copied over into the constitution because it did it so well. It’s possible that even though the weak central government is the Articles of Confederation’s biggest drawback, it was necessary for the time. If it had immediately set up a strong centralized government, there is a chance the states would have immediately split under the fears they would just end up as if they were still under England.

The constitution is an amazing document built to last. It was made to stand and work through any possible downfall of the country with systems of checks and balances to make sure that no one becomes to powerful as to form a monarchy. It has only had to be amended 27 times over the whole of American history. It lays out what is the best system the world has ever seen be implemented in running something as big as a country. It also fixed how the Articles of Confederation had very nearly no central government and replaced that with a system that, minus tending towards a two party system that mostly runs for the majority and tends to ignore minorities (this doesn’t seem fixable though. That can be chalked up to human nature) has been working amazingly well for hundreds of years.

Views on the founding farthers

The founding fathers are brilliant minded people who founded America. Without them American History would be totally different. They set out to make the government greater than before. The fathers made laws and documents that they thought would better the people. They also fought for America independence against Britain. These were hard working men. George Washington,James Madison,Thomas Jefferson,Benjamin Franklin,Alexander Hamilton,George Mason,Roger Sherman, and Edmund Randolph were some of the founding fathers of America. America laws and system still are based off of what the men set up. They wrote the constitution which gave citizens their basic rights, they wrote the Declaration of Independence which gave the thirteen colonies freedom from Great Britain, and they also wrote the bill of rights which stated are freedom. These men literally changed and built America. Most of these men are on coins and money for people never to forget what they did to make this such a great nation. What they dedicated and sacrificed to this country to make it be the best. They had a choice of what kind of government America should have, they choose not put a king to lead this country, instead they let the people decide. They thought the people of America should have better no greater than what the founding fathers had. Right after the revolutionary war the founding fathers had to set up this country. They looked at other countries constitution and how other countries ran and they applied it all to make America. The founding fathers thought about everything  very carefully to last detail to make sure these systems would not fail. They made it were America is safe and free for families and people to live and choose what they want. The founding fathers also could have destroyed America. They could have set up what ever government they wanted. They also could have appointed themselves in any position and made up outrageous laws to have power and money, but they didn't thankfully. These men are why America is free and why America is a great country.
After reading the article my views on the founding father really doesn't change. They founded and built a country from nothing. The founding farther south where intelligent, brave, hardworking men, that America should honor everyday. If it wasn't for these men this country probably wouldn't be free, this country wouldn't be anything without these men.

Tuesday, October 18, 2016

I, like most other people born and raised in American education system, believe the founding father to be the originators of the best form of government and in all ways infallible. It’s obvious to me they all had faults and that all of them were just sort of wading into a murky swamp of vague ideas dating back to Athens, but the first thoughts that come to mind are holy patriots fighting for freedom. Simply based on the environment of the time and logic, they were probably all racist, sexist bigots. All of them were strong of resolve and confidence and new what they wanted whether or not they knew if they could succeed. Their ideas were taken from many other people’s writings so saying they were visionaries may be stretching things. At the very least, they had a misfire with the articles of confederation and its inherent weakness. Given that I am a very cynical person and am actively trying to jump the gun in my opinion of the founding fathers, they weren’t original in their thinking and they weren’t faultless. It is worth noting though that in any action it doesn't matter that one is the first or only person to do something, just that it gets done. Much of what I believed has stayed the same really. The founding fathers were normal human beings who didn’t know what they were doing at the time and only knew what they wanted in the end. That being more freedoms. They didn’t quite have a plan and were really taking shots in the dark. Though this was intended, they had to add and edit the constitution multiple times do to their terror of creating a monarchy. Playing off of what I’ve read from other people’s posts, the founding fathers get credit for modern America’s successes. One can’t credit the human who created the wheel with inventing the car as well. The founding fathers created the base of a great nation (in comparison to other nations) but they did not end slavery or take down terrorists or go to the moon. We raise them onto a pedestal reserved for gods in that any negative comment made about them is almost viewed as sacrilege. The one story we have about Washington doing something wrong ends with him admitting to cutting down his father’s tree and facing the consequences like no one who did what he supposedly did at his supposed age in that story would. Not that they are worse than we are now necessarily. We used their provided platform to shape this country into what it is now. Overall, I view the founding fathers as several average people who knew what they wanted and accidentally created the basis for a great form of government.

Founding Fathers

Before:
When I think of our founding fathers, it amazes me how much they accomplished with the exception of them not having all the resources we have today. They did many things during their time period that affected people then and that effects people today. For America to be the way it is today started with the founding fathers. These men we call the founding fathers had to be strong in their beliefs and only let positive suggestions help them to make a decision. This being said, they had to be faithful in their beliefs when the set in place the constitution.  By doing this, it belled make America have a name for its self, in a good way. Even though some people didn't agree with them, their beliefs are the reason why America is the way it is today. Our founding fathers did much more in this process of shaping America. They helped America become a free nation by persuading the people to revolt against Great Britain. Our founding fathers were more then just men that founded our country, they were the heroes that saved America. If our founding fathers had never looked upon this country and felt sympathy for it, then we might not be here today. The world would be a lot different.

After:
After reading the article my views have changed on this subject. While everyone including me thought that they were helpful and awesome people, they really weren't. They were just normal people that didn't really know what they were doing. The American people were so ignorant and stubborn that it made our founding fathers look like geniuses. When really they weren't and they could have made America a worst place. Today in America, citizens as a whole are very oblivious to what is going on around them, just think of what it would've been like during that time period. It would be chaotic right? Yes it would've been. That whole time that we thought the founding fathers were helping us, they really could've been tricking us. Like so bad that the British could have been over it. But thankfully none of it was a trick and everything worked out for the better especially since we trusted in the founding fathers.

Founding fathers

What I know about the founding fathers is that they were smart. They were good at organizing the colonists in order to revolt against the British. When it came to founding the country of America, the founding fathers were even better. They came together with ideas on how America should be ran. The most important part was deciding the rights of the people. They made it to where people have certain freedoms that can't be taken away. These freedoms have kept the country prosperous through the hardest of times. Property, arms, and the right to choose the leader of the country are all rights that we have that most other countries wouldn't. The founding fathers were smart and came up with ways to manage these freedoms. In the event that the people misuse the rights they will be punished in a way of justice that is unbiased and fair. The founding fathers also came up with ways that new laws could be passed through a congress. This congress is made up of two bodies that make an even match in ideals. This variety of ideals is what makes lawmaking fair. The founding fathers then came up with a fair way for the people to elect presidents. Voting for presidents is made fair through the difference of size and population of the state. This way of voting makes elections for president fair. The founding fathers came up with all of these freedoms and fair ways that America should be ran, but many things have changed in today's society.
After I read the passage, I realized that the founding fathers did not know how to setup up the country or system of government. They only knew to use other countries ideals as examples. The only thing that they would change would be the many freedoms we have today. It wasn't easy coming up with ways these freedoms would be maintained. It was all trial and error in the beginning of the United States. The founding fathers made mistakes that would later lead to large controversy. This controversy or doubt over things would work was a way to better their thinking. They would use this in order to express their concerns on problems that may come.  The passage also brings up that the British have yet to write a constitution, and they have governed longer than the United States. Even with this known they still decided to veer away from British ideals, and create the American freedoms of today. John Locke, an important founding father, always seemed to rely on logic and common sense. He explained how a language has movable labels along the lines of, a rabbit having the name of giraffe. In order to describe this he stated, "words would always be uncertain in there significations". With this imperfection of language it could cause confusion. In the end, it was known that the constitution would never be just a document, it would be forever interpreted differently in the way ideals change.

The Founding Fathers

The Founding Fathers of the United States are some of the most important people in our nation's history. They set the guidelines and challenged popular belief as in the form of government as well as social structure. They are the ones who set the path that led us to modern day government and had a big influence on how the United States is today. Some examples of the Founding Fathers are George Washington, who became the first president, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin. Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin wrote the Declaration of Independence.  When I think of the Founding Fathers I think of patriots, bravery, and independence.  I think of patriots because they rebelled against Britain, one of the most largest and most powerful countries of that time period, and were able to make the colonies free which in turn made America. Bravery due to the fact that they fought for what they believed in and  went against popular ideas at this time such as a democratic government and the colonies' social structure. And independence because they are the ones who lead the colonists and convinced them that they must separate from Britain and not obey the laws and taxes that the British established. I also believe that they were diligent when creating this country and did a great job in establishing a new country mostly due to the fact that the United States is still up and running today and is considered a very advanced country.

Even though, after reading this article and learning about the hardships the early leaders of our country went through, my opinion of these men have not changed and I still believe that these men are patriotic, brave, and intelligent. The article said that there was a lot of problems and confusion in creating the United States, which is understandable considering this was one of the first occurrences of colonies becoming a new country and fighting for, as well as gaining, independence from a more dominant country. But yet these men laid the foundation of many new ideas and the guidelines that our country uses today to help maintain this nation.  And even though the article differs from what you learn in high school history books, due to the fact that starting a NEW COUNTRY was not as easy as the books made it out to be, these men are still the reason that we live in this free country to this day. There was a lot of confusion and questioning of ideas between the Founding Fathers which made it quite difficult to set laws and make legal documents such as a Constitution or the Declaration of Independence. They also put a lot of time into thinking of the laws and the word choice of these documents to avoid confusion and help encourage the colonist to separate from Britain. I believe that these men earned the right to be called the Founding Fathers due to there incredible determination, perseverance, and the hardships they encountered.

Founding Fathers

Before reading, I believed the Founding Fathers of our country were some of the greatest people to ever walk on Earth. They were able to build this amazing country that we live in from the ground up and knew what would make us successful. They were the leaders of the Constitutional Convention. For heavens sake they wrote the Declaration of Independence! They were geniuses! Its nearly impossible to believe that these 7 men should not be held accountable for our nations' success. I couldn't imagine what our country would be like today without them.
Man, was I wrong. After reading, I realized that they never truly knew what they were doing. That we were essentially led by a group of "blind" men. Yes, they still did do a lot to help us get to where they are but we could have been tricked into doing something terrible. You say, "They would never do that!" ,but would we have ever known if they did? Today, as a nation, we tend to eat unaware of what's going around.. Could you imagine how it would've been two hundred years ago? All this being said, I still believe that they should receive a lot of credit for the success we have had. Even though they lied and were deceptive, our Founding Fathers did everything necessary to get us our freedom. It's crazy to think that they did it untruthfully, but doesn't it make sense ? It explains why so much has had to be changed over the past two hundred plus years. Things are going to continue to change in America because we can't always get it right the first time. It's not because we always have bad leaders or a corrupt government. It's because we, like our Founding Fathers are humans. And that isn't going to change

Thoughts on the Founders After Reading

After reading, I discovered when the founders were starting out they really didn't know what they were doing. They were unsure about many things. Nobody had ever done anything like this in America so they did not have much to go by. They were also humble and knew that they were going to need the help from the citizens to get them started. One committee could not do this all by themselves! They did not have as much research and other sources that we have now. They were all on their own and enjoying it. They enjoyed the thrill. This uncertainty was called the Enlightenment. It declared self-evident truths about life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. As I was saying earlier they didn't have much to go by, they were able to use ideas from other countries though. The Fable of Founder Certainty provides the idea that the founders were full of doubts which I'm sure they were but there doubts ended up helping them for the better. Locke had a unique philosophy. He believed everything can be seen in different perspectives. Your senses are different from others so the way you perceive something may be different from someone else's. The United States Constitution was written, unlike other countries. Locke's theory proved that our constitution could be interpreted different ways because it was written down. If you read the constitution for yourself you may interpret it differently than another person. The American revolutionaries had questions and they wanted answers so they began to research. Some things they declared and others they had to suppose, wonder, question and ponder a little bit longer. The revolutionaries have proven that having doubts is okay. You don't have to know everything. They didn't know everything and look at what all they did for our country. New answers lead to new questions and the curiosity never stops. What will we discover next?

Founding Fathers Before Reading

As of right now I view the Founders of America as smart well-rounded men that knew what they were doing. They seem to have started us off pretty well and compared to other countries I would say we are still doing just fine. The Founding Fathers wrote many documents to get us where we are today. The Founding Fathers of America include, George Washington, John Adams, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, James Monroe and Benjamin Franklin. All of the Founders are all just regular people but to us they are like super heroes. George Washington led us to our first victory in the American Revolution. John Adams played a big role in the Boston Massacre, along with many other things that led to gaining our independence. Thomas Jefferson is famous for writing most of the Declaration of Independence. James Madison is known as the "Father of the Constitution". He made a major contribution to approving the constitution. Alexander Hamilton believed that a little bit of debt was a good thing. James Monroe declared that both the North and the South were off limits to the new European colonization using the Monroe Doctrine. Benjamin Franklin was a scientist and discovered electricity!!! He was very well-known throughout America. These seven men all played very important roles in America that still affect us today. Without these men and there decisions, where do you think we  would be today?

New Ideas on Foinding Fathers

The revolutionary founding fathers were as human as humans today. We forget how the founding fathers didn't know everything and had to really guess on a lot of the problems and morals of the country. At first I see the founding fathers as larger than life super beings that could almost see into the future with their philosophy's and ideas on freedom. Still they were people who guessed they wrote the constitution on the excitement and knowledge that Britain was wrong in everything they did to the colonists. I still believe the founding fathers were inspirational leaders who took the leap of freedom over the valley of failure and death. It amazing to see how much their guessing and decisions were still a rightful decisions. The foresight for the founding fathers was not as exemplary as first thought, but still they are the founders of a the best country in the world. They made it what it is today. So they were not as perfect as people believe, but isn't that what we also love to think of them as. To think that our founding fathers knew all the answers that the world asked them. Though, it's great that the decisions made by the founding fathers were thought upon, guessed and were ideas that still live on today. That is what makes Americans great, we get the job done and nobody can take that from us except ourselves. So, analysis on what I read is that founding fathers not as perfect as thought but still awesome dudes.

Founding Fathers

1. Honestly, all I know about the founding fathers is that they helped with the structure and development of our country. I know a few of the founding fathers including Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Ben Franklin, but I honestly don't know their affect on our country and how or if they benefitted to the development of our country. The founding fathers attended the Constitutional Convention where the constitution was ratified. Individually, I know Thomas Jefferson was the main contributor to writing the Declaration of Independence. The founding fathers main objective was to separate the United States of America from Britain. A few of the original founding fathers also went on to be the President at some point years later.

2. After reading, I realized the founding fathers weren't very familiar with politics nor economics. Instead of acting like they knew what was going on they accepted the fact they didn't know. The founding fathers learned through mistakes and moving on even though they didn't know what was ahead. They used enlightenment ideas to gain power and a sense of standing. This is when they were able to loosen the restraints that were placed on them by other countries. They declared everyone had the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Then came the drafting of the constitution which the founding fathers believed would help govern the people. The founding fathers were by no means geniuses. Most of everything they were able to accomplish was from learning by their mistakes. They used indigenous ideas and somewhat molded them into their own. They gave the future generations of America a foundation to build on and the ability to change the structure of the country if it is needed.

Blog Post Three: Founding Fathers Article

Before reading the article, I see the founding fathers as people to be respected. They were brilliant, scholarly innovators who were able to incredible things that had never been done before. They moved to a country that had never been colonized before, with a vision to make incredible things happen. They were able to have the audacity and the courage to break away from their mother country when it was abusing its power, something that was never thought of at the time. They were able to take a group  and transform them into soldiers fit for battle, taking them up against the trained army of Great Britain. And somehow, they were able to win. These founders were able to create an entirely new system of government for the country, after the Articles of Confederation, based upon equality and the right for an equal voice in government. This government and nation is their legacy, and the basic core principles of it still hold true today. These founders must have obviously known what they were doing. Otherwise, they wouldn't have been able to achieve the great things that they achieved. The large legacy that they left could only have existed in the first place and could not have happened by accident. This legacy, this country that we enjoy and love today, was built by a group of genius, passionate people who cared about what they were doing and had a plan in their head of where they were going and where they wanted to go.

After reading the article, I see the founders in a different light. These founders, though they were revolutionaries, weren't smart. They weren't thinking about the things that they were doing. They rushed into it without a plan. They weren't brave. The founding fathers didn't know what would become of their actions, and really only did the things that they did because luck was on their side.

The founding fathers of America had lots of questions. They were constantly wondering about the world, and explored a lot. They got a lot of things wrong, but the values that led them to pursue their curiosity and their dreams is what led them to break away from Great Britain. This sense of audacity led them to do things that they might not have thought the best things to do if they were in their right minds. Flying a kite in a thunderstorm, the Lewis and Clark expedition, and many other experiments, adventures, and discoveries are all great examples of this. The founding fathers were blinded by their want for adventure, of their need to find and experience the new. And this led them to do both great things and not so great things.

Before & After

How do I feel about the founding fathers before I have read the handout? I feel that the founding fathers did and incredible job of making this country due to the fact it's still up and running well.  One reason I believe the founding fathers did a good job of forming this country is because at the time it was unheard of to have a democracy of this kind. Everyone, especially in Europe, had a king and/or a queen, which is known as a monarchy. Some counties had a parliament in order to help create and manage law but, sometimes it was just the king or queen who had absolute power. I believe even with the intelligent minds of the founding fathers that creating the democracy we have today it was still probably extremely difficult in order to create this country. It was probably a system of trial and error just like many things are today. I know that making a country is not an easy task and that the founding fathers were faced with many difficult decisions and task they had to face. Although it might have been difficult to create this country the founding fathers thought they got it right the first time. This proved to be wrong when they would change or add amendments to the constitution. In the end the founding father did a good job in my opinion due to the fact this had never been done before by a country in this time period.

How do I feel about the founding fathers after I have read the handout? After I read the paper it made me understand that what the founding fathers did was far from what I thought. They had a lot more trouble and a ton of confusion to make this country. The author uses a metaphor where he compares the founding fathers to skating on thin ice. I think the author would use something like this due to the fact that founding fathers had no idea what they were doing and how to make this country. Every time the founding fathers had ideas they would all doubt each other. They asked questions like would it work? Is it right? There was lots of confusion between the founding fathers. I believe this might make you think this made our country weak at first but, in fact it made the country stronger. It made them think harder and longer about how they truly wanted to approach making the United States constitution. This meant they would ask hard questions and find the answers to these questions. They made sure that every word that was printed on the United States constitution had a purpose and a meaning. Ultimately what makes us drive and succeed is when we fail and learn and/or we learn by asking questions and finding the answer to those questions. The founding father did this a lot and without them failing or asking difficult questions this country might not have been here.

My opinion on the founding fathers before I read this paper given to me is fairly watered down by the river of elementary and spiced by the imagination of many passed stories. When I hear the phrase out founding fathers I think of the mid point between pilgrims and full Americans. Like just getting done from a hard work in some kind of government building right next to the Boston harbor. I think of the Declaration of Independence as well as all the rights I have had given to me at birth. When I hear that phrase I think of how far the world has come thanks to these wonderful men who decided they weren't going to take the taxing they weren't going to take the no religious education freedom. They were going to stick it to the man and go live on their own. why? Because they want to and need and because they can these men conceived the rights and independence we have today. They honestly spoke their minds and put action to their thoughts. The founding fathers were most likely considered genius in their day. They took a colony owned taxed and profited upon by the English king and Parliament. These men said no we won't be taxed without being represented. No taxation with out representation. And the English gave them some what representation but not what they wanted completely. Up they realized that they had reason to be upset as England gave in to some requests so the founding fathers after years of trying to compromise declared independence and made America the wonderful country it is.

After reading the paper that was given to me by Dr. Harvey o retract many statements in the last paragraph. The founding fathers were very respectable men and had wonderful intentions for the colonies but from what I've read, these men didn't have much of an exact idea of what to do and what is best for this colony and soon to be country. The colonists wanted equal representation and equal power to Parliament but the king and Parliament said that's not going to happen? The colonies were almost strictly for profit and access across seas they weren't exactly considered as equal to parliament in the Kings mind? So England keeps taxing them and the founding fathers and colonist are very upset because England is taxing them for no reason but profit. The founding fathers and colonists are getting tired of all of this they want representation they want less taxes they want to be treated as equal and have equal say. The founding fathers not knowing exactly what to do other than to ask England to stop and change the way they tax and treat the colonies. No one in their right mind was thinking about independence unless behind closed doors. But finally the founding fathers got fed up with it and decided to become their own dependent country and they admitted they had no idea what they were doing. They were obviously pretty intelligent men and knew a little but were un aware of all the changes in society and how to word what they were saying but they still did pretty good and founded the country we have today.

Founding Fathers

I see The Founding Fathers of America as a group of brilliant, hard working individuals who longed for freedom and would stop at nothing to obtain it. They remind me of a generation in America that is fading away. Farmers with an outstanding work ethic who work until the job is done, no matter how difficult. When they run into a problem they fix it and don't rely on anyone else to do it for them. They don't run away from a challenge; instead, they run at it determined to conquer it. It is as if the desire to complete things to the best of our ability is a trait that has faded from generation to generation. They are also brilliant individuals who where able to create a government from nothing. They had strong core values that fueled their desire for "one nation under God", as we are reminded by the pledge of allegiance. These values ostracized them from others in England, yet brought them together in America. They believed in freedom more than anything and their determination to find this freedom is what I admire most about Our Founding Fathers. The three main characteristics I see in Our Founding Fathers are determination, hard working mentality, and intelligence. Along with the longing desire for freedom these are the reasons they were able to form America from nothing. After I began to read more about The Founding Fathers I realized there is much more to their story. Yes, they were hard working and intelligent, but they were also ignorant or uncertain about many things. Such as, politics, nature, society, economics, human beings and happiness. As a result they were full of doubt that pushed them to learn more and become more knowledgeable of the world. The Founding Fathers built all of America on uncertainty. They didn't know that the Constitution would be the basis of our government for its whole existence. They wrote with so many questions about life and how everything works they could not have been anything but uncertain if it would work. I don't see the founding fathers much different as I did before. They are still hard working and intelligent, but they are also ignorant or uncertain about so many things. This doesn't degrade their image in American society it just reveals that they aren't perfect they are just like our society today. This doesn't make us respect them any less. It actually makes me respect them even more. The fact that they created our government from nothing is outstanding, but it is more impressive that they did this with so little knowledge about politics, nature, society, economics, human beings, and happiness. The amount of respect I had before reading about our Founding Fathers has greatly increased because I now realize that it was a lot harder then I realized
