I, like most other people born and raised in American education system, believe the founding father to be the originators of the best form of government and in all ways infallible. It’s obvious to me they all had faults and that all of them were just sort of wading into a murky swamp of vague ideas dating back to Athens, but the first thoughts that come to mind are holy patriots fighting for freedom. Simply based on the environment of the time and logic, they were probably all racist, sexist bigots. All of them were strong of resolve and confidence and new what they wanted whether or not they knew if they could succeed. Their ideas were taken from many other people’s writings so saying they were visionaries may be stretching things. At the very least, they had a misfire with the articles of confederation and its inherent weakness. Given that I am a very cynical person and am actively trying to jump the gun in my opinion of the founding fathers, they weren’t original in their thinking and they weren’t faultless. It is worth noting though that in any action it doesn't matter that one is the first or only person to do something, just that it gets done. Much of what I believed has stayed the same really. The founding fathers were normal human beings who didn’t know what they were doing at the time and only knew what they wanted in the end. That being more freedoms. They didn’t quite have a plan and were really taking shots in the dark. Though this was intended, they had to add and edit the constitution multiple times do to their terror of creating a monarchy. Playing off of what I’ve read from other people’s posts, the founding fathers get credit for modern America’s successes. One can’t credit the human who created the wheel with inventing the car as well. The founding fathers created the base of a great nation (in comparison to other nations) but they did not end slavery or take down terrorists or go to the moon. We raise them onto a pedestal reserved for gods in that any negative comment made about them is almost viewed as sacrilege. The one story we have about Washington doing something wrong ends with him admitting to cutting down his father’s tree and facing the consequences like no one who did what he supposedly did at his supposed age in that story would. Not that they are worse than we are now necessarily. We used their provided platform to shape this country into what it is now. Overall, I view the founding fathers as several average people who knew what they wanted and accidentally created the basis for a great form of government.
