The Founding Fathers of the United States are some of the most important people in our nation's history. They set the guidelines and challenged popular belief as in the form of government as well as social structure. They are the ones who set the path that led us to modern day government and had a big influence on how the United States is today. Some examples of the Founding Fathers are George Washington, who became the first president, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, and Benjamin Franklin. Jefferson, Adams, and Franklin wrote the Declaration of Independence. When I think of the Founding Fathers I think of patriots, bravery, and independence. I think of patriots because they rebelled against Britain, one of the most largest and most powerful countries of that time period, and were able to make the colonies free which in turn made America. Bravery due to the fact that they fought for what they believed in and went against popular ideas at this time such as a democratic government and the colonies' social structure. And independence because they are the ones who lead the colonists and convinced them that they must separate from Britain and not obey the laws and taxes that the British established. I also believe that they were diligent when creating this country and did a great job in establishing a new country mostly due to the fact that the United States is still up and running today and is considered a very advanced country.
Even though, after reading this article and learning about the hardships the early leaders of our country went through, my opinion of these men have not changed and I still believe that these men are patriotic, brave, and intelligent. The article said that there was a lot of problems and confusion in creating the United States, which is understandable considering this was one of the first occurrences of colonies becoming a new country and fighting for, as well as gaining, independence from a more dominant country. But yet these men laid the foundation of many new ideas and the guidelines that our country uses today to help maintain this nation. And even though the article differs from what you learn in high school history books, due to the fact that starting a NEW COUNTRY was not as easy as the books made it out to be, these men are still the reason that we live in this free country to this day. There was a lot of confusion and questioning of ideas between the Founding Fathers which made it quite difficult to set laws and make legal documents such as a Constitution or the Declaration of Independence. They also put a lot of time into thinking of the laws and the word choice of these documents to avoid confusion and help encourage the colonist to separate from Britain. I believe that these men earned the right to be called the Founding Fathers due to there incredible determination, perseverance, and the hardships they encountered.
